Freedom Pond Moonworks

Felting Stories

Growing from the love of our work as fiber artists, an activity always enjoyed by the Moon Child and Sandy Pond School participants is also available as a class for small groups (minimum of two, maximum of eight),  suitable for ages seven years old* and above. "Felting Stories" introduces the needle felting technique, which the children use to create scenes or small figures that relate to a story we have shared with them, or are free develop a story of their own. (After all, all art is a story!) $30 per child class fee

Materials provided for use:  wool fiber, felting needle, needle holder, foam mat. (the same materials are made available for sale as a kit)   *Due to the use of sharp needles, younger children welcome only with close parental supervision.  Additionally we offer wet felting classes for young children.

The wool used in these classes, as in our own creations,  is local Maine wool. Felting is one of the crafts/arts Dawnella discusses during groups visits to talk about our Maine Made products "From the Ground Up" , which in 2011 was also incorporated into some of our Read ME visits, and has been available as such ever since.  To schedule, contact:  storytellerandson@gmail.com
